Nightwing is being hunted by a bunch of villaisn from aroudn the DCU inside a submarine. Now that is a fun idea for a comic book. Time Seeley pulls this off well (except for maybe when he has Dick Grayson refer to himself as the Dickster!) Some of these villains have only been created recently in the comics and not by Tim Seeley, which means Tim is reading all the books or the editors are just that good. Either way, I love it when the DCU comes together nicely. Blockbuster’s motivations for hurting Nightwing is interesting. He wants to be the hero of Bludhaven and sees Nightwing as a Gothamite who doesn’t understand the city. As for the final page, I wonder how Nightwing survives the explosion?

Super Sons 3 – 5

Super Sons #3

In this issue, Robin and Jon (I am not ready to call him Superboy yet, I miss Connor Kent) team up against Kid Amazo who is actually ultra powerful himelf. The thing that makes this issue good is the Robin and Jon’s constant bickering and insults back and forth. I love it. There is talk about Jon joining the Teen Titans even though he is not old enough. What if DC Just turned this book into the new Young Justice book and have a young justice team led by Damian and kept the Titans separate? I would like that.

Robin and Jon team up with Lex Luthor to defeat Kid Amazo in this issue. It was a lot of fun. I like that Damian seems to think it was a good team up even though he won’t admit it, whereas Jon hated it. Damian does actually care about Jon, he is just a hard ass.

Balancing the Light and the Dark

The second issue is just as charming as the first thanks to the animated characters drawn by Jorge Jimenez. I cold see this guy drawing a Young Justice comic too. Acutally that would be a good idea to have Jon Kent (I am not read to call him Superboy yet although he does refer to himself as such in this comic) and Damian start a new Young Justice team. Damian seems too young to be in the Teen Titans anyways despite being 13 supposedly. That being said, Tomasi’s writing is great too as he knows how to play Jon and Damian off each other well. Despite the fun and witty banter, this issue deals with some dark themes including a Kid with Amazo’s powers who murders his whole family. Tamasi and Jimenez balance the light and dark aspects well to make a good comic book. I can’t say enough how good this is.
