This was another incredible issue. Pansica is beyond underrated. He is an incredible talent. The Fate telling Wonder Woman that she is strong because of the baby bird she saved almost made me cry. Read it and you will under what I mean. Hester gets Wonder Woman.

Diana immediately recognizing the Wonder Woman synbol filled me with joy. As did every page of this comic. I am so looking forward to the Wonder Woman movie next year and this comic reminded me why I love the character. I am on the edge of my seat wondering who the big bad is and it is great to see Dr. Psycho’s creepy little ass again.

The Gods reveal they made Wonder Woman forget her history in order to make her more in touch with her humanity so she can defeat Nemesis. It was a clever ruse. The final page of this issue is quite shocking and I look forward to seeing what it means but it feels good to see that old costume back!

Yay! All is revealed as Wonder Woman was split into two and the one with her memories was under the control of Nemesis. In this issue they merge back with a “Let’s be Wonder Woman again!” battle cry. This is epic storytelling. Oh and by the way Nemesis is a bad ass looking Wonder Woman villain. I hope she comes back at some point after this arc ends.

It is so stupid that DC basically made this character perfect through a reboot and brought back the orignal numbering and now reboots her again to the New 52 after this issue. It just shows poor planning and poor leadership at DC. Sad to say. But at the very least Diana is aware that reality is about to change again in this issue. I think she is alone in all of the comics in that she was aware the New 52 was coming but I could be wrong. This was a tremendous final issue and a tremendous love letter to the Character. Diana saying “I will always be Wonder Woman” was a great moment to end this series on.

The Spirit Of Wonder Woman

Wow Hester really manages to show us the spirit of who Wonder Woman is – not only in her various incarnations – but within people who embodies her ideals and characterization through time. It was really a great issue. And the way he showed this – through her enemy Doctor Psycho who only wants things to return to normal so that he could be close to her in some way again. It was great. I really did not expect this to be that good.

Yay! The last page reveals………………….Dian is saved by Doctor Psycho. I missed that creepy little guy! He is definitely my favorite Wonder Woman villain and we haven’t really seen much of him since One Year Later. I wonder if he remembers the Old Diana or not? Should be interesting. This whole issue was basically a big fight scene but still good.

What’s Not To Love About This?

Wonder Woman (Volume 3) #35
Written by Gail Simone

Does Simone know how to write some great dialogue or what? James Robinson could learn a thing or two from her. I love the balance between action and dialogue in this series, it is damn perfect! Seriously anyone who has been hating on the character of Wonder Woman or Simone’s run in general are idiotic. What is not to love here! Romance, action, drama…it’s all here. I like how Gail portrays a friendship between Dinah and Diana. It is something that Diana really needs. I am looking forward to seeing how Black Canary “fixes” Wonder Woman’s life. Because she does need a new personal life since the Department of Metahuman Affairds is no more. The commentary on the action figures was hilarious. And I am glad that Nemesis is breaking up with Wonder Woman, I have never been a big fan of their relationship and she doesn’t love him anyway.

No More Arena Fighting!

Yes because after a great storyline like “Rise of the Olympian” we really needed yet another metahuman fighting in arena storyline. This got old the second time DC did it, and they have done it 3,000 more times then that! I mean it is great to have Simone writing Black Canary again but this issue really didn’t do anything for me. I have seen this same situation too many times.

Getting Good

Wonder Woman (Volume 3) #29

After Diana’s defeat by Genocide again, everything has gone to hell. Genocide has kidnapped Etta Candy, Zeus is killing gods, and it looks like Athena may have died. Oh and Steve Trevor is back, looking for his wife. I always thought he was older then that? Maybe I am just thinking of something else. Cheetah is pretty powerful in this issue and Diana says so herself. I can’t really remember her being this powerful before? I am not sure. This is an action-packed arc and if you have never tried Wonder Woman before, this is really the time to start. This is getting good.

The Glasses And The Bun Don’t Work…Go Figure

Wonder Woman (Volume 3) #28

The battle against Genocide continues here and we even get the return of the creepiest Wonder Woman villain: Dr. Psycho! He hasn’t been seen much since Infinite Crisis and I am glad to have him back. Even if he has switched bodies with Sarge Steel. Genocide’s eyes apparently show one the end of their life. I still have to wonder who created her. The society couldn’t have created a god, could they? As for Wonder Woman, she is vicious and kicks some major ass this issue. The hardened warrior in her really shows. I loved Nemesis’s comment about her secret identity. I am glad he knows. Oh and it looks like Cheetah is behind something bigger then we though. Great stuff.
