Teen Titans 37 – 40

Wow, I mean just wow. That is the word that sums up this issue, wow. This was a very emotional read…so many great moments. Teen Titans is the best series that DC is putting out right now and I think everyone should be reading it. I feel like anything I say about this issue will be an understatement. It is just that good. The ending was kinda shocking but not unlikely, lots of people come together in the face of trajedy. I just hope to god it does not become a regular thing. I loved the scenes where the members talk to Cyborg and basically all of the other scenes in this issue too!

That one page where they listed all the members of the Teen Titans in the last year with their picture, that got me so excited! I can not wait to meet each and everyone of them. This book is really making the most out of the one year gap. I love the rivalry between Wonder Girl and Ravager. The team’s roster is now Wonder Girl, Robin, Cyborg, Ravager, and Kid Devil. I imagine that more members will join up as this storyline unfolds.

I think I drooled a little bit while reading this. It was just that good. I love Miss Martian, I hope she joins the Titans full time. I hope she is not the traiter. Zatara is a brat but I still like him, don’t know why. Bombshell, I don’t like. She seems like such a bitch. I hope Ravager isn’t the traiter. I have loved her in this book so far.

I sure as hell am glad that Miss Martian nor Ravager is the traitor, but it the one character I hated, Bombshell! The Teen Titans kick her ass this issue too. I look forward to seeing Jericho back on the team and back alive. He may have a terrible costume, but he is a great character. Now that I think about it, the Titans seem to be always searching for Raven. Someone should tell her this time not to run off again. Great Issue. Can’t wait for the next!

Outsiders 38 – 42

Okay this issue rocked! Evey page filled with great moments. Whether it was Nigtwing telling off Captain Boomerang or Katana’s dopping of Phobia. I loved it! The only thing is that the brotherhood of evil is becoming overexposed since crisis. They seeme to be appearing in too many places. But hell, the art was amazing! I wish this guy was the regular artist!

This issue was just full of surpris
es. Apparently, the brotherhood is cloning metahumans and we find out some truths about the DNA of the outsiders. Grace has a people?? And the best of all, Shift is back! Probably just temporarily, but he is back. I miss that guy. I think Metamorpho must have absorbed him somewhere in the one year gap. Great issue.

I am definitely loving the Outsiders one year later. There is something so cool about them. This storyline is great too. I look forward to seeing the Outsiders going after Sivana after this. I was kind of sad that it wasn‘t Shift in this issue but instead another piece of Metamorpho. And I was correct that Shift was absorbed by Metamorpho in the one year gap, but he chose to because he felt guilty for commiting murder. Interesting.

This issue was so-so, it was a little decompressed. Not much happens outside of the Outsiders being exposed as being alive. Oh and we find out that Thunder and Grace are having a lesbian affair. We still do not know what exactly the Outsiders are in trouble for doing and what is Grace’s big secret.

Okay this was a lot better than the last issue. Sivana’s plan is cool. It reminds me of the old school villain comic plots. Very nice. Wiping the memories of an entire city. Now, I wonder why he says he and the Outsiders want the same thing. I guess we will finf that out next issue. But before that, I have to say that Katana’s new costume is hideous. Just hideous.

Brain And Mallah Sitting In A Tree

Outsiders (Volume 3) #37

Cover by Daniel Acuña

Does it bother anybody else when a comic book cover shows none of the actual stars of the book? In my opinion, each and every cover of this series should have the Outsiders on it. Yes, the brain and mallah are in this issue but are they the Outsiders, no! End of Rant. So the man who looked like Jay Garrick last issue is actually Jay’s clone, this ties into the whole cloning thing going on in Teen Titans right now and of course the Outsiders have a run in with Brain and Mallah. I like how DC is portraying Mallah and Brain as lovers, it’s strange, but it does make them a lot more interesting. This was a decent issue but there was problems. Both Alan Scott and Nightwing seem out of character. Alan a little less, but he seems to be kind of a jerk here, maybe checkmate and his daughter’s death has hardened him in the last year. I also wonder why the Outsiders wouldn’t show him more sympathy considering Jade was a former teammate of theirs. Nightwing seems rougher than usual, he is more willing to cross the line. I guess that you can chalk this up to both the characters changing in the missing year. So I will let this go. I liked the way the whole Mali storyline ended. Them putting the evil dictator on the island and telling the new ruler to keep the peace or else, that was kickass and fulfills what the Outsiders is really about. No holds barred crimefighting. I know a lot of people, myself included, would love to have the power to put politicians in there place and the Outsiders do just that. It made me smile. I also wonder why Nightwing would not be more surprised when Superman shows up, considering Superman has been missing for a year! But I do think it is completely in character for Dick to have kryptonite with him. Still don’t like the art but oh well.

The New Teen Titans Meet The New Doom Patrol

Teen Titans (Volume 3) #36
Written by Geoff Johns
Art and Cover by Tony Daniel and Kevin Conrad

I really loved this issue. It single handedly got me looking for old Doom Patrol issues. This was a team I could care less about before and now I am fascinated with them. Thank you, Geoff! There were so many great moments in this issue I was drooling. The chief is a weird son of a bitch, Vox is an improvement of the Mal Duncan character, Bumblebee is as cool as ever, Negative Man (not Hush my bad) and Robotman are back as well as Elasti-Girl who has been “regrown” by the chief. Tony Daniel is quickly becoming my current favorite artist. And Geoff Johns remains as my all time favorite writer. Even with an entire superhero team guest starring in this issue, Geoff still manages to make it about the titans. We learn a secret about Kid Devil which shocked me. In about three issues I already care about the character and I wonder why he made up all the calls from Blue Devil. Geoff even manages to make me like the Brain and Monsier Mallah, I never thought that would happen. Great Issue!

The Ravaging Slut

Teen Titans (Volume 3) #35
Written by Geoff Johns
Art and cover by Tony Daniel and Sandra Hope

Tony Daniel is quickly becoming one of my favorite artists and I think everyone should check out his blog which I have linked on the right. He really makes the One Year Later Titans twice as good as they were before. I really am liking this new status quo. I know, I know, it seems like I like everything but I don’t care, I think that is a good thing. Much Like Robin’s new costume, I think I am finally used to Wonder Girl’s new attire. It is growing on me. I loved the overtly sexual scene with the Ravager and Robin, that was just funny and unlike most femal heroes, it makes sense for the Ravager to be slutty. I mean she is the daughter of Deathstroke for christ sake. The only real problem I found with this issue is the brotherhood of evil. I really don’t get what is so fascinating about them. I never have found them that interesting but apparently a lot of people like them since they keep coming back. The last shot of the new Doom Patrol was cool and I seem to be the only one that assumed that that was Hush and not Negative Man at first. I am probably wrong about this since everyone else in the internet comic communuity assumed it was Negative Man but I am still hoping I am right and it is Hush. Just so I can say I was right!
