The Green Lantern Corps and Oa have dissappeared while the Sinestro Corps and War World have taken their places. Sinestro vs. Hal Jordan…that sounds like a snoozefest. I am more interested in what happened to the Green Lantern Corps which it looks like we will get next issue.

This is getting better. I especially liked the moments between Sinestro and his daughter. Basically any moment without Hal Jordan is a good moment to me. But in all seriousness…all I wonder is where is Kyle Rayner!

Hal falls in defeat from the Sinestro Corps meanwhile Sinestro is busy reviving a religion called the Sacrament which I assume worships the yellow light of fear somehow. That interests me. This series is good, don’t get me wrong I will always complain about Hal, but I enjoyed this issue.

First of all, thank you Venditti and Van Sciver for featuring a naked Guy Gardner in this issue. Second of all, this was good, Van Sciver is always a great artist. It was gross to see Krybb again. Gross only because I find her appearance revolting not because I dislike the character concept. With Guy Gardner captured by Sinestro, John Stewart takes charge of the Green Lantern Corps and they decide to go after him…which seems like a bad idea considering how small their numbers are now.

This issue was more of the same as John Stewart and the Green Lantern Corps decide to team up with the Spider Guild to take on the Sinestro Corps. Good art, good script. But where is Kyle?

This issue focused mainly on Sinestro powering up to Parrallax levels through this “fear engine” and Hal Jordan making dumb bro comments to Sinestro Corps members. Pass.

Soranik Natu saves Guy Gardner and shuts down the feat engine…yet Hal Jordan still tries to act like the big hero and blow himself up even though Sinestro has already lost! What an idiot! Soranik and Guy are the true heroes here!

Now this issue was more like it. No Hal Jordan! Just John Stewart, Guy Gardner, and the Green Lantern Corps. If it had Kyle it would have been perfect as the Corps faces off against Starro and get captured by Brainiac in the process.

First of all, I just have to say that Rot Lop maybe my new favorite Green Lantern. Hal Jordan is dead in some kind of heaven for Green Lanterns called Emerald Space but it looks like Ganthet is sending the greatest of all Green Lanterns (an apparently White Lantern now) Kyle Rayner! I was so happy to see my old hero in the pages of this comic book. It made me smile. And I love how the Green Lantern Corps figures out that they are in a glass bottle through Rot Lop’s ears. What a wonderful issue.

Of course it would take the greatest of all Green Lanterns – Kyle Rayner – to save Hal Jordan from the afterlife. Go Kyle! But I wish you had just kept Hal there so he could become the Spectre again like he should be. I smiled every time Ganthey called Kyle the Torchbearer. I did not see the ending coming but I am excited to Larfleeze in action again.

The plan that John Stewart comes up with to get out of the bottle – by having Larfleeze think the Green Lantern Corps and Sinestro Corps will kill itself inside the bottle – and how Venditti wrote it so you don’t know that it is John Stewart’s plan the whole time – is brilliant. This was a great issue.

Venditti is writing John Stewart as a brilliant commander! I loved this because outside of the Justice League cartoon, I have found John Stewart in comics to be rather lacking in interesting traits. Still better than Hal Jordan, but nowhere near as interesting as Guy or Kyle, or even now Jessica and Simon. I smiled on the page of this comic where Kyle yells “The Gang is back together” as the four earth Green Lanterns are all in one splash page. That kind of stuff makes my heart sing. The ending has Soranik and John agreeing to to permanently have the Green Lantern Corps and the Sinestro Corps working together. I like this development. First of all, it takes the over used Sinestro off the table for a bit and it will be refreshing to see how the Sinestro Corps could be used for good.

This was a sweet one and done issue focusing on Xudar and a future Green Lantern looking back on how she first met the Green Lantern Corps when they saved Xudar (in the proceeding issues), Venditti really hit at home as to why Will is different from the other colors of the emotional spectrum. Will has to be cultivated whereas the other emotions just happen. I am not sure he is quite right about love though. While it does just happen, you have to work at keeping it in your heart.

This issue features Space Cabbie – a great use of an obscure DCU Character. Venditti is a wonderful writer. That being said, I thought he lived in the 22nd Century, not the present day. Time Travel? Anyways, Vednitti continues to make me fall deeper in love with John Stewert as he sorta calls Hal Jordan a dumbass in this issue and that is a great opinion for John to have. And then the greast of Green Lantern, Kyle Rayner, even makes jokes at Hal’s expense! I couldn’t be happier!

Thank you Venditti and Van Sciver for having Guy Gardner show up in his Warrior jacket from the ’90s! That brought me back. I wish he was still Warrior but I am happy to have this easter egg. I have a feeling the events with Hal, Kyle, and St. Walker have something to do with Rebirth and Doctor Manhattan trying to take the hope away from the DCU but I could be wrong. As for Guy, I have no idea why he is picking this fight with the Sinestro Corps guy as I am not sure I know their history. Good issue.

In this rather bloody issue, Guy Gardner and Arkillo take their rings off to fight and somehow Guy wins but not without nearly bleeding to death. I liked this issue but I thought for sure Guy was going to get his old ’90s Vuldanarian powers back to fight Arkillo, I just did not see how he could win any other way but I guess Guy is just that tough? I don’t quite buy it.  This was still a good issue though. Sandoval is a wonderful artist.

Robert Venditti you are awesome! Thank you for having Hal tell Kyle that in truth, Kyle is the greatest Lantern. That’s a big fuck you to Dan Didio. Because if Kyle is the greatest Lantern by default he is also the greatest Green Lantern. Venditti became one of my favorite writers with one panel of dialogue. As I suspected, this all does tie into Rebirth as Kyle tries to ressurect the Blue Lantern Corps and loses his White Lantern powers in the process as he is blocked by whoever is behind Rebirth. The final page had me cheering as Kyle is not only back as a Green Lantern but is back in his classic ’90s costume!

I had forgotten that Kyle and Soranik were once dating and this issue reminds me of this as they awkwardly reunite as Kyle is now a Green Lantern and Soranik is the leader of the Yellow Lanterns. Rip Hunter shows up at the end of this comic which I did not expect.

So a new bad guy (I think he is a new bad guy) has gone back in time from thirty years in the present to stop the Green Lantern Corps and Sinestro Corps from working together which apparently leads to the dissolution of the Sinestro Corps. It was interesting and it was great to see Kyle back in old costume hitting on Soranik…I generally don’t care about the main plot yet.

In this issue, the Green Lantern Corps fights against the Sarko and it focuses mainly on John Stewart’s leadership. Of course it looks like this is all Hal’s fault somehow.

Wow, I did not see that coming. This relates to my favorite Green Lantern – Kyle Rayner himself is the father of Sarko with Soranik. Wow. And Sarko dies in this issue. Kyle will have to know for years that his son will turn evil and then die. How can he keep this to himself? It won’t be easy.
