I Love Ragdoll’s Lines

ss19

Secret Six (Volume 3) #19
Written by Gail Simone
Art by J. Calafiore

Simone writes the best dialogue for Ragdoll hahaha he cracks me up. The issue begins with him talking about having sex with butterflies and then being tortured. I love how Deadshot tells him “We don’t like when you share stuff with us.” Caliafore’s art is much improved, no one could replace Nicola Scott, but this was still good art to look at. The story was violent and disturbing as always but you can’t help but love it. Ragdoll and Black Alice are acting like schoolkids in love and Bane is pissed that the team will not follow his lead. The ending was crazy, I wonder what Catman will do? Great issue.

Red Robin 9 and 10

The end of this issue is the beginning of Batgirl #8. They weren’t the same scene at all though! What the hell is wrong with the editors at DC Comics. If you are going to do a crossover shouldn’t this all be coordinated? Anyways Tim returning to Gotham is really awesome, loved about every panel of this issue. To draws Gotham fantastically.

Former lovers Tim and Steph continue their team-up in their new personas in this issue and I am still annoyed that Tim has not asked what happened to Cassandra! Whatever the art was good and the mystery with Ra’s, Hush, and Vicki Vale is really interesting. I am still loving Tam Fox as a character. Good stuff.

Doom Patrol 7 and 8

Doom Patrol (Volume 5) #7
Written by Keith Giffen
Art by Matthew Clark
Co-Feature by Giffen and J.M. Dematteis
Art by Joe Mcguire

The main story was all set up and I am not really sure if I completely got what was going on. Is someone assembling a team to fight the Doom Patrol? It was cool to see Crazy Jane back, I hope she stays with the team, This issue featured the last time the Metal Men will co-feature and while it was funny, I can’t say that I will exactly miss it.

Doom Patrol (Volume 5) #8
Written by Keith Giffen

Clarke’s art is still not to my taste and this issue seemed a little…well…wordy. But I liked the idea of Danny the Street coming back. I love that Giffen’s not afraid to play with Morrison Doom Patrollers.

Family History

Batman and Robin #10

The start of this new arc was probably the most intiguing thing about this series yet. Bruce left clues to his where about within Wayne Manor – it makes perfect sense. Except for one problem…. the original Wayne Manor was destoryed during Cataclysm! Unless they reconstructed it exactly as it was, I am not sure if I remember that or not. I will have to look that up. I don’t know that I buy that Dick Grayson – who grew up in this house – wouldn’t know about the existence of a secret passageway and Alfred didn’t either but I am willing to let that go because it is a cool mystery and I am interested in the Wayne Family history now and I definitely wasn’t before.

Where The Hell Is She?!

Batgirl (Volume 3) #8
Written by Bryan Q. Miller
Art by Talent Caldwell

I miss Garbett’s art I think his absence really hurt this issue. It was a sweet story where Tim and Steph finally recouncil sort of but at the same time Steph chooses not to take him back, proving that she is an independent woman now. And because you know I am going to bring it up, they did mention Cassandra in this issue. In one panel and all Tim says is Cassandra? He doesn’t even fucking ask Stephanie where Cassandra Cain is or why she is no longer Batgirl! This pissed me off. Remember that DC Nation where Didio said there were big plans for Cass in 2010, where the hell is she?!

Commissioner Gordon’s Daughter? Really?!

Detective Comics #862
Written by Greg Rucka
Art by Jock
Co-Feature by Rucka
Art by Cully Hamner

Yay! We finally get some mention of Bette Kane being Flamebird and even get to see the costume which she is pondering putting back on. I wonder why Bette ran away from Batwoman? Either she feels bad about her friend or she doesn’t want Batwoman to ask questions about how she knows how to fight? I don’t know but I liked this issue. The Question back-up was actually pretty damn awesome. I think it is the first time I actually really enjoyed the back-up as a lot of stuff happened and Oracle guest starred. I love how Renee can’t get over how Commisioner Gordon’s daughter is helping them. I wonder if she will suspect that she is Oracle.

JSA All-Stars #4
Written by Matthew Sturges
Art by Freddie E. Williams III

Co-Feature by Jen Van Meter
Art by Travis Moore

The main story was okay. This book is certainly not as good as the main JSA book and I still think Williams belongs on a different book. One thing I found to be annoying was that Power Girl would even send this team to fight the King of Tears. She is not that dumb and she could have called in the other JSA members, why are they acting like the other team hates them or soemthing? It seems strange out of the blue. That being said, I didn’t dislike the issue, the story has potential and I wonder what is really going on. Why is Atom Smasher in the subtle realms? Plus I liked the idea of Tom going by Tomcat instead of Wildcat. Now only if we could get Alan Scott to go by Sentinel again. The Liberty Belle/Hourman back-up was decent enough, nothing to praise or complain about there.

Wanted More

Adventure Comics #511
Written by Sterling Gates, James Robinson, and Eric Trautmann

Art by Travis Moore, Julian Lopez, and Piere Gallo

This issue serves as Prologue to the Last Stand of New Krypton story that begins next week. In it we get three separate stories. One deals with the Legion in the future, one with them meeting up with Superboy and Mon-El in Smallville, as well as a third story dealing with General Lane unknowingly hiring a Kryptonian into Project 7734. It was all entertaining and revealed some more secrets but I feel like it didn’t further the story as much as it should have. Something better happen soon! We get a better understanding of why Lane hates Kryptonians although its clearly a hate bread from fear, which is what all hate is. I liked that and I like all the Legion stuff but I guess I wanted more from this issue then I got.
