Secret Six (Volume 3) #28
Written by Gail Simone
Art by J. Caliafore

Diemos is defeated and everyone returns from Skartaris (well except for Lady Vic) and the Six may be working at least part-time for Amanda Waller now. It looked like King Shark was sticking around too but I am not sure. I loved the final scene with Giganta’s revenge on that rat bastard Dwarfstar…priceless!

Catman as the Warlord! War in Skartaris! Amanda Waller gets her revenge! The return of Diemos! King Shark loses an eyeball! This is awesome stuff…what an issue Simone has written here! Go read it! The only thing is some scenes the art seemed a little off…maybe rushed otherwise this was pretty near awesome.

Secret Six In Skartaris

I had no idea the place that they were going last issue was going to be Skartaris! I thought that they sealed off Skartaris at the end of the last Warlord book but they failed apparently as the USA wants to annex Skartaris! Awesome storyline Gail…this book is returing to the greatness it once had as Ragdoll has hilarious lines and it is great to see the Six learn about Skartaris. The ending was shocking as hell too. Great read.

Secret Six 24 and 25

Secret Six (Volume 3) #24

This was weird. It was basically an imaginary story issue with the Secret Six in the wild west. It was okay but it would have been nice for them to explain this or for there to be an editorial blurb that says “Not in Continuity”

Bane’s team and the regular team are forced to fight one another – or at least it is being set up that way. Can’t wait to see it in action! The new team is fascinating and I want them to stick around. Dwarfstar was a great Ryan Choi villain it is so sad to hear Giganta talk about Ryan – I wonder if this is before or after his murder? Good stuff so far.

Well I certainly did not expect Catman to say no and let his child die – I am kind of sick of kids dying in the DCU though. I am still pissed about Lian’s death. But at least it shows that Chesire and Catman really aren’t the best of parents haha I love the way Simone writes Cheshire in particular.

Holy crap this was crazy awesome! It was great to see an exploration of Catman’s child and we see how fucked up his parents were and how much of an evil bastard his Dad was. The fact that his Dad was a big game hunter is brilliant! And Black Alice turning into the Demon “Estrogen”! Now that is just gold! It was cool to see Dwarfstar again – I really miss Ryan Choi.

Moving Across The Country

Titans (Volume 2) #19
Written by J.T. Krul
Art by Angel Unzueta

When this issue’s opening said it took place in Star City I was a little annoyed. Why would Roy live in Star City? That’s all the way on the other side of the country from Titans Compound in New York and he is not the Flash. I spoke too soon as it is explained he just moved to Star City to get Lian out of New York and because he felt the Titans were drifting apart. That leaves Donna, Cyborg, Flash, and Starfire as members of “Titans East” and we know three out of four are going to be in the Justice League. Will Flash stay with the team after Deathstroke takes over? I highly doubt it. It is starting to look like Wallace is going to be creating an all-new team when he takes over this book, which I am not complaining about. It could be interesting. This was a nice character study of Red Arrow and his relationship with Lian. I liked it. These done-in-one character studies have been better then anything in this book before. I guess that means it is time for a whole new team.

High Expectations

Secret Six (Volume 3) #7

Art by Nicola Scott

The art is still fantastic this time around, but the conclusion of the first story arc didn’t seem as fantastic as it could have been. I suppose I had high expectations because the previous issues of this book have been just that good. I don’t believe Junior and the Tarantula are actually dead, Junior is too good of a villain to kill off that easily. As for what was going on with Bane and Scandal, I don’t know. What was going on in that memory Scandal was having? I have no clue. Mad Hatter was great in this. Now that the Secret Six are in Gotham I wonder if they will become involved in the Battle for the Cowl?

Secret Six 5 and 6

And DC’s craziest series gets even crazier in this issue as the villain Junior is revealed to be Ragdoll’s sister. I can’t believe I never thought of such a thing before as the villain did fit in a box! She is even scarier looking then Ragdoll. ss666.jpg

In the main story, learn more about Ragdoll’s sister and it turns out the one asking for the card is Mad Hatter who I am excited to see. He really doesn’t get enough appearances for a Batman villain. We also learn more of the perfectly disturbing backstory of Jeanette. Oh and Deadshot betrays the team. He was my least favorite member, so I really hope he is out for good. I like that despite they are working together, they really are still villains. In Origins and Omens backup story, we get some panels that could show the future of the team as well as an explanation of their origins by Mad Hatter who looks to have bad things in mind for their future. Awesome issue.

Craziness Continues

Secret Six (Volume 3) #4
Written by Gail Simone
Art by Nicola Scott

The craziness continues this issue as the Secret Six finally meet up with their sixth member in vegas. Jeanette is an interesting character in a series full of interesting characters. There are so many great moments in this issue I don’t even know where to start. If you are not picking up this series, run to the store and pick it up now! The art is great and the story is both shocking and hilarious. Simone is one of the best writers DC has right now. And yes they do actually ride in an ice cream turck this issue! The art is dark, and I love that about it. It fits the tone of the series perfectly with its dark humor. I love the line “What if?” that tarantula says because she is sooo right. Even if one doesn’t believe in hell or believe that the Get out of Hell Card works, there is always going to be the “What If” that is the back of these villains minds that makes them wanna grab it. We get more of the creepy villain, Junior, who murders a priest in a rather disturbing scene. This book is not for the squemish, that is for sure.

Secret Six 1 and 2

Secret Six (Volume 3) #1
Written by Gail Simone
Art by Nicola Scott

Simone kicks off this series with one of the most disturbing images; a man choosing his family’s death over his own. Then brings us to the Secret Six who are just as awesome and hilarious as ever. I love the talk about Catman going good and Deadshot making fun of it. I loved the inappropriate but meant well gesture of having the hooker dress as Knock-out. I can’t wait for the next issue! Check this out people. This is Gail at her best!

Secret Six (Volume 3) #2

The highlight of this issue has to be the dialogue between Batman and Catman. Simone’s strengths as a writer who can write a serious story with great comic relief is shown here especially with Catman’s obsession with the smell of Mexican food. She utilizes some pretty obscure villains in that last page spread and Nicola Scott is an amazing artist who needs to be doing more books for DC.
